Pipe Pick, in Dutch “PijpenWroeter” or just “wroeter” was a common tool used to “fluff” the bowl or just to help clean out tobacco and ash. They often came in the form of animals, but ships were also incredibly popular and have become very desirable. Hunting animals, as well as others inspired by military, royal or historical/mythical figures are also popular. Often they were gifted, or custom made around a smokers interest or job. This unusually rare example is in the form of a pick axe / hammer and was probably hung on a chain at one time. It is 60 mm long and 4.5g Hallmarks suggest an imported object and it could possiblly be 1800s. Follow my Catawiki profile for more, I have around 80 of these and will post over time.
