Östberg & L - 上菜碟 - 鍍銀 - H:27 cm

These two pieces are beautiful examples of Swedish silver craftsmanship from the early 20th century. They are a matched set produced by one of Sweden's most prestigious silversmiths. 1. The Lidded Pedestal Bowl This is a Neo-Classical/Empire style lidded bowl, likely used for jam or as a "praktskål" (ornamental bowl). Manufacturer: The stamp ÖSTBERG & L identifies the maker as C.G. Östberg & Lagerström. They were a high-quality workshop active in Stockholm during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Design Features: Body: A brushed or satin-finish silver bowl held by an ornate tripod stand. Motifs: The legs and lid feature pinecones (a classic Nordic decorative element) and scrolling foliate accents. Construction: The bowl sits high on three curved legs attached to a triangular base, typical of the "Swedish Grace" or late Art Nouveau influence. 2. The Sugar Spoon The spoon bears a full set of Swedish national hallmarks, which allow for a very precise identification: Origin: Stockholm, Sweden. Date: 1913. Maker: Östberg & Lagerström (Östberg & L). Material: Solid Silver (.800 purity). Note on Condition: The "brushed" look on the bowl’s surface and the golden hue on the base and spoon (visible in the photos) suggest the silver may have a light vermeil (gold wash) or has developed a heavy, warm patina over the last 110+ years.
