A Chinese porcelain covered “ginger jar,” produced in the 19th century (late Qing Dynasty), in a style inspired by the Kangxi period.
The jar is hand-painted in underglaze cobalt blue with a rich sapphire tone, featuring the classic “Prunus on Cracked Ice” motif, symbolizing renewal and the arrival of spring. The decoration displays the characteristic “heaping and piling” effect, associated with traditional cobalt painting techniques.
The base bears a four-character Kangxi-style mark (apocryphal), typical of 19th-century export porcelain inspired by earlier imperial wares.
Condition: very good antique condition. The rim shows natural glaze loss (fritting), consistent with traditional kiln firing. Minor iron spots in the glaze and age-related wear are present.
