The figure is seated in meditation posture on a lotus pedestal, forming the meditation mudra, and backed by an elegant boat-shaped halo carved with flowing cloud motifs. The multi-tiered hexagonal base adds a strong sense of balance and dignity to the overall composition. The surface is finished with lacquer mixed with gold powder, giving the sculpture a subdued yet luminous presence that enhances its spiritual depth. The calm facial expression and softly modelled drapery convey a sense of quiet contemplation, reflecting both devotional purpose and skilled craftsmanship. There are age-related signs of wear including surface abrasions, small scratches, cracks on halo, areas of lacquer loss, and accumulated soiling. These traces of time contribute to the sculpture’s authentic character and embody the aesthetic of wabi-sabi, highlighting the beauty found in age and imperfection.
