Item Description:
隠崎隆一 Kakurezaki Ryuichi(1950- )— Bizen Flower Vases, Pair (Bizen Hanaire Issou)
A compelling pair of Bizen ware flower vases (hanaire) by Kakurezaki Ryuichi, one of the most innovative and internationally acclaimed contemporary ceramic artists working in the Bizen tradition.
Standing at a commanding 31 cm in height, these vases display the raw, elemental beauty that defines Kakurezaki's approach — bold, sculptural forms shaped entirely by hand, bearing the natural marks of fire and earth in the kiln.
The pair is united by Kakurezaki's signature aesthetic: unglazed Bizen clay, whose rich tonal palette of warm ochres, charcoal grays, and deep iron-red hues emerges through the long anagama wood-firing process.
Together they create a dynamic visual tension, evoking both the ancient heritage of one of Japan's oldest pottery traditions and the bold sensibility of a modern master.
Presented in their original wooden storage box (tomobako), this pair represents a rare opportunity to acquire matched works by one of Japan's most sought-after Bizen artists.
