A restrung Western Asiatic restrung necklace composed of ovoid stone and shell beads of different hues of white and cream. The beads are generally uniform in size. Some of the beads feature natural striations and some surface roughness. A few beads displays linear grooves. Each bead presents a unique shape and a different shade of colour and texture. Please note this necklace is unclasped and threaded on string. Jewellery is thought to be one of the oldest forms of art within history, with the presence of rings, bangles and necklaces’ being present in almost all ancient societies. The Western Asiatic during Mesopotamia is home to many interesting and unique jewellery patterns, with hardstone being the common material of choice for ancient citizens to decorate themselves with. The sophisticated nature of the society can be seen through their jewellery making skills with elaborate patterns and carvings being common find.
