Old german 4/4 violin, made in Mittenwald, labeled: Josef Klotz in Mittenwalde anno 1795. The instrument remains in ready to play condition with one small repaired crack on upper top, new ebony pegs up and new strings. The ribs, scroll, one-piece back made of beautiful softly flamed maple. The top of straight medium grained spruce. The original deep brown varnish has some tears and wears. LOB measures 360 mm. The total length of the violin is 589 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 167 mm; middle bouts: 115 mm; lower bouts: 204 mm.
