A full size gilt metal model of the Academy Award of Merit, better known as an Oscar, measuring circa 25cm in height and weighing 1209g. Designed by Cedric Gibbons in 1928 and sculpted by George Stanley. Gibbons (1890-1960), a Hollywood art director and production designer, himself went on to win the Oscar a total of 11 times. Condition: Very good, no damages or repairs. The original Academy Awards are mounted on a bakelite base which is missing from this statuette.
