Beautiful hematoid quartz from the classic Triassic evaporites of eastern Spain. It comes from a locality better known for the radial quartz balls usually found in replaced anhydrite nodules. In this case, the quartz formed at the interface of one such nodule and the surrounding gypsum, giving the specimen its beautiful color contrast.
