A very diverse collection of old Ashanti glass beads, produced locally in tradional kilns. In a grey/white matrix red and blue glass strips were inserted. This was done to imitate the valuable European imported beads of the beginning of the 20th cent. Presented here is a fine selection of different sized beads, which makes this a nice collectors item. Some beads show signs of wear and tear, due to their age. Sizes vary between 5-6-7-8-10-12 mm. Added is also a small chain of light-brown glass beads (8 mm wide). All beads were collected in Kumasi in the late 1990`s.
