Alexandre Petrus (1988) - PERSEE ET MEDUSE

TITRE PERSEE ET MEDUSE INFORMATIONS TECHNIQUES Title : Persee et Meduse Artist : Alexandre Petrus Technique : Hand-cut stencil, spray paint and acrylic Support : Cotton canvas on wooden stretcher Dimension : 61 x 46 x 2 cm Year of creation : 2026 Signature : Hand-signed, AP monogram on the front Authenticity : Certificate of authenticity included Condition : Excellent condition ABOUT THE ARTWORK “Persee et Meduse” captures one of the most iconic and dramatic moments of Greek mythology — the instant where victory, danger and destiny collide. The composition focuses on Perseus holding the head of Medusa, frozen in a powerful gesture that symbolizes triumph over fear and the unknown. The tension between the two figures creates a striking visual contrast: control versus chaos, hero versus curse, light versus darkness. The monochromatic blue palette immerses the scene in a cold, almost supernatural atmosphere. It enhances the mythological dimension of the artwork, while giving it a contemporary and minimalist strength. The textured background, created instinctively, evokes movement and energy, like an invisible force surrounding the scene. The precision of the stencil work highlights the sculptural quality of the figures, inspired by classical art, while the raw and spontaneous background anchors the piece firmly in a modern urban aesthetic. Through this artwork, I explore the idea of transformation — how confronting fear can become a source of power. Medusa is no longer just a monster, but a symbol of what must be faced, while Perseus embodies the courage to do so. This piece is created using my signature double-layer stencil technique. Each stencil is digitally designed, then meticulously hand-cut before being painted with spray paint and acrylic, ensuring a unique and unrepeatable result. ABOUT THE ARTIST Alexandre Petrus is a French stencil artist known for his distinctive visual language, combining the raw energy of street art with the precision of hand-crafted technique. Working exclusively with hand-cut stencils, he has developed a recognizable and refined signature style, where every line is carefully designed and manually executed. His work stands at the intersection of digital creation, traditional craftsmanship and contemporary urban art. What defines his approach is a unique balance between control and spontaneity. While the subject is meticulously constructed through layered stencil work, the background is created instinctively, making each piece truly one of a kind. This philosophy — which he defines as “originality in repetition” — ensures that no artwork is ever reproduced or duplicated. His creations explore a wide range of themes, from wildlife and human emotion to pop culture and classical reinterpretations, allowing his work to resonate with a broad international audience. Over the years, Alexandre Petrus has built a growing base of collectors across Europe and internationally, attracted by the uniqueness, consistency and strong identity of his work. Each artwork is an original piece — no prints, no editions — making every acquisition a unique and exclusive addition to a collection. ABOUT THE ARTWORK
“Persee et Meduse” captures one of the most iconic and dramatic moments of Greek mythology — the instant where victory, danger and destiny collide.
