这件作品以天然粗麻布底纸装裱，在镶嵌着金箔的华美巴洛克镶框中展出，框饰为卷草纹与典雅的楔形饰纹，体现第二帝国/拿破仑三世时期的审美。
同款在圣-艾蒂安的艺术与工业博物馆以及阿瓦洛内省博物馆亦有收藏。

Silk woven tableau — L'Orage after P.A. Cot — Neyret Frères, Saint-Étienne, circa 1899 — in gilded baroque frame

Rare silk woven tableau by the Neyret Frères manufactory of Saint-Étienne (founded 1823), one of the most celebrated French producers of façonnée silks on Jacquard loom.

The subject reproduces the famous painting L'Orage (1880) by French academic painter Pierre Auguste Cot (1837–1883): a young couple fleeing a storm, with lightning and a romantic landscape in the background. An enormously popular subject of the era, inspired by the idyllic scenes of Paul et Virginie and Daphnis and Chloe.

The technique is monochromatic silk grisaille with delicate partial colour touches on the woman's dress. The iridescent luminosity of the silk gives extraordinary depth and movement: according to the Neyret family, more than 12 different silk threads were required to faithfully reproduce the grey gradations.

The textile bears two monograms woven directly into the silk: "NF" lower left (Neyret Frères) and "d'après P.A. Cot" lower right.

The piece is presented mounted on natural raw linen, framed in a magnificent period gilded baroque frame with scrollwork and cartouche decorations typical of the Second Empire / Napoleon III taste.
Identical examples are held at the Musée d'Art et d'Industrie in Saint-Étienne and the Musée de l'Avalonnais.

Raro tableau tissé en soie della manifattura Neyret Frères di Saint-Étienne (fondata 1823), uno dei più rinomati produttori francesi di soieries façonnées su telaio Jacquard.
Il soggetto riproduce il celebre dipinto L'Orage (1880) del pittore accademico francese Pierre Auguste Cot (1837–1883): una coppia di giovani in fuga durante una tempesta, con fulmine e paesaggio romantico sullo sfondo. Soggetto di grande popolarità nell'epoca, ispirato alle scene idilliche di Paul et Virginie e Dafni e Cloe.
La tecnica è la grisaille in seta monocromatica con leggerissimi tocchi di colore parziale sulla veste femminile. La luminosità cangiante della seta conferisce profondità e movimento straordinari: secondo la famiglia Neyret, più di 12 diversi filati di seta erano necessari per riprodurre con precisione le sfumature di grigio.
Il tessuto reca i due monogrammi tessuti direttamente nella seta: "NF" in basso a sinistra (Neyret Frères) e la dicitura "d'après P.A. Cot" in basso a destra.
Il pezzo è presentato montato su fondo di lino grezzo naturale, incorniciato in una splendida cornice barocca dorata a foglia coeva, con decorazioni a volute e cartigli tipiche del gusto Secondo Impero / Napoleone III.
Esemplari identici sono conservati presso il Musée d'Art et d'Industrie di Saint-Étienne e il Musée de l'Avalonnais.
