A cast bronze Russian Orthodox wall/benediction cross of the traditional eight-pointed Eastern form, 18th-19th century. The obverse carries a crisp relief of the Crucifixion: Christ crucified in the center, the Holy Spirit and sun-and-moon above the titulus, Mary and John attendant in the niches of the cross-beam, and Adam's skull and Golgotha at the foot. The reverse bears two recessed cast panels with a Church Slavonic troparion to the cross. A suspension loop at the top allowed wall-mounting or attachment to a larger icon.
