信楽土『Youhen』(窑变)茶碗,作者:Junichi Kojima - 陶瓷 - Junichi Kojima / 小島淳一 (b. 1946) - 日本 - 平成時期(1989年至今)

Description: A Shigaraki chawan formed from authentic Shigaraki clay, shaped into a robust cylindrical profile. The surface retains a rugged texture, where the iron-rich body has reacted directly with the flame during wood firing, producing deep reddish-brown and burnt orange tones (hiiro). Across the exterior, a thick layer of natural ash has melted into a translucent olive-green glaze, descending irregularly and vitrifying into a glassy surface. This accumulation continues into the interior, where it settles in the well (chadamari), forming a pooled glaze with a fine crackle pattern. The base is finished with a carefully carved circular foot (kodai), bearing the artist’s incised mark. The piece is accompanied by its original wooden storage box (tomobako), inscribed on the reverse by the artist with “Shigaraki-tsuchi Youhen Chawan” along with his signature and seal. Dimensions: Diameter: 11.5 cm Height: 8.8 cm Weight: 360 grams Condition: No chips, cracks or restorations. Artist Profile: Junichi Kojima / 小島淳一 (1946–) Born in Ota City, Gunma Prefecture, Kojima committed to the path of tea ceramics in 1967. After training in Mashiko from 1970, he established his own kiln in 1976. He specializes in anagama (hole kiln) firing, working with the direct interaction between wood ash and clay. Since 1996, he has held solo exhibitions at venues including Tokyu Department Store in Shibuya, and has presented annual solo exhibitions at Gallery Shun in Minami-Azabu. His work reflects a sustained engagement with Shigaraki and Mashiko traditions. Additional Notes Please review all photos carefully as they are part of the item description.
