Three-line central inscription with the kalima:
“There is no god but Allah alone; He has no partner.”
The marginal inscription records the mint (Dimashq / Damascus) and the date AH 91 in Arabic script.

Four-line central inscription quoting Sūrat al-Ikhlāṣ (Qur’an 112):
“Allah is One. Allah, the Eternal Refuge.
He neither begets nor is born,
Nor is there to Him any equivalent.”
The marginal inscription contains a Qur’anic declaration adapted from Qur’an 9:33:
“Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, sent with guidance and the religion of truth, to make it prevail over all religions, even if the polytheists dislike it.”
