鹅图屏风 - 银箔、漆木、丝绸、桑皮纸, 絲 - 日本 - 明治時期(1868-1912)
An outstanding tall six-panel byôbu 屏風 (folding screen) depicting a flock of geese in flight over the sea.
Set against a heavily oxidized silver leaf ground, the composition shows a dynamic group of fifteen geese, rendered in white and brown tones. The birds are captured from varying angles, some seen in profile, others from behind.
Below, a turbulent sea unfolds, with rolling waves and frothy crests and splashing scattered droplets.
Executed in pigments and ink on mulberry paper with silver leaf, the screen is bordered by two silk trims, a slender golden inner band and a broad green outer border. The panels are set within a red lacquered wooden frame.
Period: Japan –Meiji period (1868-1912).
Dimensions:
Total width 347.2 cm (2 × 59.2 cm, 4 × 57.2 cm); Height 172.2 cm
Considering its age, the screen is in very good condition, with traces of wear and restorations on both sides, including some touch-ups of the painting and silver leaf. Please refer to the photos for a clear condition reference.
The folding screen is ideal for mounting flat on a wall and presenting as a single work of art, but can of course also be placed as a standalone piece.
When shipped, we will add a certificate of authenticity.
