The damage must be reported to your local post office within 7 days of delivery, and promptly to us and Catawiki support. 【Product details】 This is a rare set of two original Creative Kokeshi dolls, titled “Dojo” (Young Girl), hand-carved and painted by the celebrated master Sekiguchi Sansaku. The pairing presents the same design concept at two different scales, allowing the refinement of form and proportion to be appreciated side by side. Sekiguchi Sansaku is regarded as one of the most important figures in the world of Creative Kokeshi. He was a three-time recipient of the Prime Minister’s Award, the highest honour in this field, and was officially recognised by the Japanese government as a Contemporary Master Craftsman. His work is admired for its modern, sculptural clarity while remaining firmly rooted in Japanese aesthetic tradition. Both dolls feature Sekiguchi’s iconic bob-cut hairstyle and serene, gently smiling expressions. The cylindrical bodies are hand-carved and hand-painted, decorated with delicately incised and painted floral motifs that radiate across the surface of the kimono, demonstrating his precise carving technique and refined sense of balance. The restrained colour palette and confident lines are characteristic of his mature style. Each doll bears the artist’s signature on the side. The set is accompanied by one original wooden title plaque. Both dolls are in fair vintage condition, with minor scuffs, surface scratches, grime, small dents, and discolouration consistent with age and handling.
