青銅器時代 青銅色 直刃斧头 (沒有保留價)
A Bronze Age axe head cast from bronze featuring a cylindrical shaft. The square blade extends straight out from the narrow neck. The cutting edge displays slightly rounded edges. Patination and earthly encrustations to the surface. Signs of wear as consistent with age, such as chipping and surface scratches. Chipping to the edge of the blade. Chip to the bottom edge of the shaft and two cracks on either side.
In ancient times a number of nomadic populations, such as the Medes and the Kassites settled in the Western Asiatic region. Due to the nomadic nature of the tribes, none of these bronzes were of great size, since it was required for them to be light and portable. Their artwork mainly comprises ornaments, vessels and weapons. Most of these bronze items have been recovered in funerary contexts.
Measurements: (circa) W11 cm x H 10.9cm
Provenance: Ex London Collection, formed between 1990-present.
