An authentic antique Swat Valley chair from Pakistan, dating to the late 19th to early 20th century. This remarkable low chair is handcrafted from solid wood and features an intricately carved backrest with traditional geometric and floral motifs characteristic of Swat Valley craftsmanship. The detailed openwork carving demonstrates the refined decorative style associated with historic furniture from the region. The seat is woven from natural fibers in a traditional geometric pattern and is supported by a robust wooden frame with turned legs and carved details. The chair displays a beautiful dark patina developed through age and use. Visible wear, small imperfections and surface marks are consistent with its age and authentic utilitarian character. Such chairs were traditionally used as low domestic seating in the Swat Valley region of present-day Pakistan and are today appreciated as decorative tribal and ethnographic furniture pieces.
