Jakutan Shunryu (?-1864)

A Soto Zen monk of the late Edo period. He served as abbot of Gotokuji Temple in Musashi Province (present-day Setagaya, Tokyo). In Tenpo 7 (1836), he resided at Jissoin in Shimotsuke Province (present-day Tochigi Prefecture). In Tenpo 12 (1841), he succeeded Fuugai at Kojakuji in Mikawa Province (present-day eastern Aichi Prefecture). Later, he succeeded Koukai Toryu at Gotokuji in Musashi Province (present-day Tokyo, Saitama, and northeastern Kanagawa). In Bunkyu 1 (1861), he resided at Seiryoji in Omi Province (present-day Shiga Prefecture). He died in Genji 1 (1864).
