This plaster bust, measuring 50 cm in height, 20 cm in width, and 20 cm in depth, is inspired by the celebrated portrait of Lucius Caesar preserved at the National Archaeological Museum of Aquileia. The original sculpture, dating to the 1st century BC, belongs to the refined tradition of Augustan portraiture, in which youthful features are not merely a representation of age, but an idealized political and symbolic image: the promise of imperial continuity and the embodiment of the dynasty destined to carry forward the vision of Augustus. In this plaster interpretation, the material itself enhances the archaeological and suspended quality of the work. The surfaces evoke the passage of time, the fragility of memory, and the dreamlike dimension of a lost classical world. The face appears almost as an apparition — not simply a Roman portrait, but a symbol of beauty confronting destiny and the transience of history. The calm expression, distant gaze, and balanced proportions reflect the classical search for harmony between the human and the ideal.
