Elegant antique cobalt blue glass jar, likely of Bohemian / Central European origin, dating to around 1900. The piece is executed in richly coloured deep blue glass, decorated with a hand-painted enamel floral motif in red and green tones. The vivid contrast between the cobalt ground and the applied decoration gives the object a strong decorative presence. It is fitted with a finely worked metal mount, featuring engraved floral patterns on the lid and a twisted swing handle, typical of late 19th to early 20th century production. The lid is removable, and the handle allows for easy carrying. Objects of this type were commonly used as biscuit jars, sugar containers, or occasionally as ice buckets, combining both functional and decorative qualities.
