藝術裝飾 彩色玻璃窗 - Atelier Asperslagh - 56x39cm - 1920-1930

Art Deco Geometric Stained Glass Panel in Carved Oak Frame – ca. 1920 - Atelier Asperslagh, The Hague In excellent condition - 56cm x 39cm A highly decorative and authentic Dutch Art Deco stained glass panel, attributed to the renowned Atelier Asperslagh of The Hague, dating from the interwar period circa 1920. The composition is executed in the characteristic geometric idiom of the Dutch Art Deco and Haagse School movement, featuring strong symmetrical forms in vibrant red, cobalt blue, yellow, and violet glass, framed by textured cathedral glass panels. The panel is mounted in its original solid oak frame, richly decorated with a finely carved floral and foliate border motif, adding warmth and craftsmanship to the otherwise modernist geometric composition. The contrast between the architectural leadwork and the ornamental oak frame is highly typical of high-quality Dutch decorative arts from the 1920s. The work is attributed to Atelier Asperslagh in The Hague, one of the most prolific stained-glass studios active in the Netherlands during the early 20th century. Under the direction of Lou Asperslagh (1893–1949), the atelier became particularly known for producing both unique artistic commissions and serial geometric stained-glass windows for homes built within the expanding Haagse School residential districts around The Hague. Lou Asperslagh initially trained under painter Jan Schouten in Delft before continuing his studies at the Academy of Delft, where he received instruction influenced by Jan Toorop (1858–1928), one of the most important Dutch Symbolist and Art Nouveau artists. In 1928, Asperslagh founded his own atelier together with his brothers Alex and Henk, both skilled glaziers. That same year, the atelier achieved international recognition after receiving a silver medal at the International Exhibition in Paris. Their reputation soon extended into Belgium, where Asperslagh continued to work later in life. This panel reflects the transition from late Amsterdam School ornamentation toward the cleaner geometric aesthetics of Art Deco and early modernism. Pieces of this type were often incorporated into entrance doors, stairwells, vestibules, or upper windows of higher-end Dutch townhouses and villas. The glass shows attractive age-related irregularities and subtle surface texture consistent with early hand-finished production methods. The leadwork remains stable and the panel presents beautifully when illuminated. Condition: In excellent condition with no cracks or repairs. Leadwork stable and solid. The hand carved oak frame displays a beautiful aged patina. Dimensions: 56 x 39 x 5 cm (height x width x depth) Weight: Approx. 3 kg A rare and highly decorative original Dutch Art Deco stained-glass panel with strong architectural presence and excellent collector appeal.
