Nansō Satomi Hakkenden was written by Kyokutei Bakin, also known as Takizawa Bakin. It is one of the most celebrated works of Japanese popular literature from the late Edo period. The novel was published over a long period, from 1814 to 1842, and follows the adventures of eight heroic warriors connected to the Satomi clan. The books contain traditional Japanese woodblock-printed text and illustrations, with dramatic scenes including warriors, nobles, demons and legendary figures.
