Tissot Seastar Automatic - 46587-1X - Cal. 2571 Day-Date - 1970s - 37mm
Tissot Seastar Automatic reference 46587-1X from the early-to-mid 1970s. Gold-plated case over stainless steel back, 37mm diameter, fitted with the Tissot automatic caliber 2571 with day-date complication. Champagne sunburst dial with applied faceted indices, dauphine hands with luminous inserts, T-Swiss-Made-T signature, and the Tissot star emblem above six o'clock. Day-date display at three o'clock with Spanish-language day indicator.
The Seastar line is one of Tissot's longest-running collections, dating to the 1950s as the brand's water-resistant sport-dress range. The caliber 2571 was introduced in 1972 and represents Tissot's collaboration-era automatic day-date movement, derived from the ETA/Omega platform that powered the wider Tissot range during the post-merger period. Reference 46587 belongs to the gold-capped cushion-case generation of the early 1970s — a distinctive tonneau silhouette that defines the period and remains popular with collectors seeking authentic 70s wrist presence.

The watch is in good vintage condition overall. The dial is unblemished with sharp original printing, intact luminous markers and crisp applied indices. The acrylic crystal shows the typical light marks of an unpolished plexi from this era, which polish out easily with standard acrylic polish. The gold-plated case shows light wear at the lug edges consistent with five decades of regular wear, with the underlying steel visible at the most exposed points. The movement runs strongly and keeps good time over a 24-hour test, the date advances correctly at midnight, and the crown winds and sets smoothly. The day indicator does not currently advance — a common, fully serviceable point on unserviced vintage day-date calibers, typically resolved at the next routine service. Sold as a piece that will benefit from a service to bring all complications back into specification.
