Background and History of this items:
The Soma Domain (相馬藩) was a small feudal domain in northeastern Japan during the Edo period, ruled by the Soma clan from their castle town of Nakamura in present-day Soma City, Fukushima Prefecture.
The crest of the Soma lords, based on the kuyō-mon (九曜紋) of nine stars, visually expresses their long-standing devotion to Myoken worship and became a symbol of the Soma Domain and its samurai traditions.
Kuyoumon
Soma Nomaoi (相馬野馬追) is a traditional samurai horse festival held every year in the Soma region of Fukushima Prefecture. It has a history of more than 1,000 years and originally began as military training, where samurai chased wild horses as if they were enemy soldiers.
Today, the festival lasts for three days and features events such as a large parade of riders in real samurai armor, armored horse races, and a dramatic contest where horseback riders try to catch sacred flags falling from the sky.
