Japanese hanging scroll featuring a painting of a sea bream (tai) by Kokyo Mori, a painter active primarily in Kyoto from the Meiji to Showa periods. He was the grandson of Kansai Mori, one of the leading figures of the Kyoto art world during the Meiji era. In Japanese culture, the sea bream is an auspicious motif associated with good fortune, celebration, and prosperity.
Executed in ink and color on silk, the work depicts a beautifully detailed sea bream with refined brushwork and delicate coloration. The composition reflects the elegance and realism of traditional Kyoto painting. Comes with a storage box. The roller ends are made of plastic.
