Some stones is missing, and they show considerable wear, which does not diminish their beauty and interest. Dating from the 1980s Mahakala is a powerful and guardian deity revered primarily in Vajrayana (Tibetan) Buddhism, Hinduism, and Sikhism. He represents the force of absolute time, transformation through the destruction of the ego, and fierce protection against negative energies.
