En 1815, Johann Maëlzel distribue les premiers métronomes à près de 200 compositeurs. Beethoven, son ami, est parmi les premiers à l’adopter et publie un livret de ses huit symphonies avec des indications métronomiques inédites.

The Origins of the Metronome
In 1815, Johann Maëlzel distributed the first metronomes to about 200 composers. His friend Beethoven was among the first to use it, publishing a booklet of his eight symphonies with the earliest metronome markings.
