Italy Marco Ceri circa 1990 A rare and complete set of four original oil on copper paintings depicting different Edwardian tennis scenes. They are all signed by the artist and they sit in wooden partially gilded frames behind glass. The paintings are in very good condition. The frames also but with little user wear. Marco Ceri lives in Northern Italy where he paints oil on copper pictures in a very specific genre which is his own. His paintings depict English gentry engaged at polo, golf or tennis during the Edwardian era. A great deal of research provided a high degree of accuracy to every aspect of these scenes including, of course, the attire and sports equipment, but even the postures and demeanor of the participants. A rare find from an artist that does not seek to be by known but is a true craftsman. From a private collection.
