A natural emerald ring that has been valuated by the guild of valuers and jewellers in the UK at £1,425 (€1,646). The UK's leading professional valuation service. The craftsmanship of this ring is excellent and the emerald is of excellent quality, with the color being in one of the top tiers of this locality and the world. This ring has been set with an emerald from the mines of Mingora Swat which have proven to be the oldest mines from ancient times, the same mines produced emeralds for the ancient roman royalty, to a pendant which was owned by a queen of France (CATHERINE DE’ MEDICI’S PENDANT), that was thought to contain Muzo Columbian emeralds turned out to be from Mingora Swat, when a group of gemmologists examined the pendant, this has raised several questions about other objects with emeralds that are mistaken as Columbian but could be from actually Mingora Swat valley. https://www.gia.edu/doc/spring-2025-catherine-de-medici-emerald-pendant.pdf The mines are more than 2000 years old, in fact ancient roman excavation revealed a pair of earrings with emerald actually being from Swat, which was the oldest recorded date compared to other mines even older than Egypt, and one reason mining was able to occur at those times was the host rock of the emeralds is softer, which allowed the ancients to extract emeralds without use of modern tools or blasting. https://www.researchgate.net/publication/235238354_Oxygen_Isotopes_and_Emerald_Trade_Routes_Since_Antiquity Emeralds like this are rare, it is rich in chromium, has a beautiful mossy gardening referred to as "le jardin". A true garden unlike many Columbian emeralds that are actually different in their gardening, and dont have the older provenance. The first use of the word was actually by a famous French merchant in the areas of India, and it is most likely he saw the emeralds of Swat and coined this famous term, not Columbian which a lot of people have mistakenly labelled the material as, even the merchant at that time which had no labs to prove the origin, but now gemmology is revealing the truth. Unlike the Columbian emeralds which can be less saturated and more blue, the emeralds from Mingora are a more true rich slightly bluish green, alpine color. Many in the trade mistake Mingora emeralds as being from Columbia, and we have accounts of dealers deliberately giving Mingora emeralds Columbian origin. The reality is the mines of Swat are the oldest documented proven emerald producing mines in the world. Even Alexander the Great got his emeralds from these mines. The prices of emeralds from Swat are going up, due to the awareness of the these mines true provenance, and in the future these emeralds will be difficult to get hands on. Currently emeralds from the mines just rough the local miners are charging 2000-3000 dollars per ct, and Chinese to European, and other buyers are paying top dollar for these emeralds. The stone in this ring was cut by ourselves, the stone was sourced from the mines by ourselves, we do not have any middle men involved, and support the local miners. The ring was handmade and hand engraved in silver, and lacquered with black, In the middle east gold is actually forbidden for men to wear, and nearly all emeralds or gemstones are set into silver. The ring was made by ourselves. The emerald has been slightly oiled. No glass, no color or dye 100% natural emerald. The engraving inspiration has come from nature and is a mix of Mughal Persian Greek and Gandhara ancient style. You can see the mines which we have access to, these photographs are taken by ourselves and we have been inside the mines, unlike people who claim they have access we actually do. This emerald has a velvety and rich look. The emerald weighs 1.220ct, the full ring weighs 14.2 grams. The size of the ring may vary but is around 67 mm range. An amazing opportunity to own a piece of history and something to pass on to loved ones or to diversify your investment portfolio. Please be advised the valuation is only a point of reference for the bidders and expert as sometimes its difficult to actually see what the item is in terms of what is being offered, this ring and emerald is of high quality, and therefore we had to get this opinion of the guild just so you can see the truth. The photographs are taken under normal and led lighting, with a professional camera, the color of the emerald is more rich in real life, and the color may slightly vary in real life due to the screen differences. Shipping is fully tracked and insured, customs fees may apply and is the duty of the bidder/client to pay. In the shipping box we include the ring, a simple box in bubble wrap, no paper work or valuation papers will be provided due to confidentiality, only the ring in a simple box will be sent, and securely packaged.
