一个木质雕塑 - Prampram - 迦納 (沒有保留價)

This pair of figures from the southern coastal region of Ghana, near Prampram, belongs to the cultural context of the Ga-Adangbe groups, whose sculptural practice is closely linked to ancestor worship, protective functions, and local ritual systems. Such paired figures can be understood as complementary units that visually articulate social dualities - such as gender, kinship, or spiritual balance. Incl stand. Formally, the figures are characterized by radical reduction and a clear, almost geometric body language. The spherical heads with hole-like eyes, simple openings for ears, and slightly open mouths create a compelling, de-individualized presence. The elongated noses appear as linear protrusions that emphasize the verticality of the composition. This verticality continues in the long necks and torsos, while the arms and legs are strongly foreshortened and tapered to points, without elaborate limbs. The nipples and navels are marked by simple perforations and are integrated into the refined formal language. The surfaces are speckled with red and white pigments, ritual traces that attest to ritual treatment and symbolic meaning. A crack on the right side at the shoulder and distinct wear marks testify to their long history and their integration into repeated cultic practices. Their ascetic form and material density manifest an aesthetic that focuses less on mimetic representation than on the concentration of presence and power. Literature (selection) Cole, Herbert M.: Icons: Ideals and Power in the Art of Africa. Washington, 1989. Blier, Suzanne Preston: African Vodun: Art, Psychology, and Power. Chicago, 1995. Garrard, Timothy F.: African Goldweights and Weights. London, 1980. Ross, Doran H.: Wrapped in Pride: Ghanaian Kente and African American Identity. Los Angeles, 1998. Height: 51 cm / 56 cm Weight: 1,3 kg / 1,5 kg (incl. stand)
