賣家描述
Orthodox Grand Feasts Icon, depicting 16 liturgical scenes centered on the Resurrection of Christ. This sumptuous and spectacular work dates from the late 18th / early 19th century, roughly 1720/1810.
Its style, the color palette, and the exquisite refinement allow us to attribute it to a period and to a specific origin and manufacture, an icon in medieval Greek or in ancient post-Byzantine Greek, with inscriptions, materials, structure and customs, characteristics and colors, and other points that identify and enhance the icon itself.
Despite the wear, the icon reveals a surprising narrative richness. Each small scene is a window into a crucial moment of the biblical story, allowing the believer to meditate on specific events. The orderly arrangement of the scenes invites a progressive reading, almost like a picture book, where the visual narration compensates for the loss of chromatic brilliance with the strength of the intrinsic spiritual message.
