Mashiko ware - Takauchi Shugo (高内秀剛) (b.1937) - 茶碗 (5) - 陶瓷 - 5只 Guinomi 套装 - Tomobako

A set of five sake cups (guinomi) by Takauchi Shugo (b.1937), one of the most respected contemporary potters working in the Mashiko tradition. Each cup is crafted in a different glaze and technique - kohiki (white slip), shino, e-shino (painted shino), midori-yu (green glaze), and a richly speckled iron-rich glaze - showcasing the artist's remarkable technical range across a single set. The contrasting surfaces invite the user to enjoy a different sensory experience with each pour, making this an exceptional set for the discerning sake connoisseur. Two of the cups bear the artist's incised signature "Shu" (秀) on the side. The set comes complete with the original signed wooden box (tomobako), confirming authenticity, and the original silk wrapping cloth (tomofukusa). Set of 5 cups, height ranging from 3.1 cm to 5.9 cm, with original signed wooden box (tomobako). Takauchi Shugo studied under Hamada Shoji's son Hamada Shinsaku and has been a leading figure in Mashiko ware for decades. His works are held in collections including the Robert Yellin Yakimono Gallery, Dai Ichi Arts in New York, and Erskine, Hall & Coe in London. 【Artist Profile】 Takauchi Shugo (b.1937) is a contemporary Mashiko potter known for his masterful command of multiple traditional techniques including oribe, shino, e-shino, kohiki, and iron-glazed wares.
