A unique set of three (3) Chinese famille rose and gilt porcelain dishes consisting of two chargers (platters) and one regular dinner plate. China, early 18th century, Qing dynasty, Yongzheng (1722-1735, 雍正) period. Extremely rare, I found only one example (five small plates, last picture) sold in last years!
Each plate finely painted in bright famille rose enamels, centered Phoenix having its wings spread, holding a rolled-open scroll depicting a peony and flowering prunus, encircled by a pink with four Chinese auspicious symbols on white ground alternating with flower-heads, all on a pink diaper pattern. Followed by a wide band with four large flower (peony) sprays with ribboned symbols. Narrow band with flowers on the turquoise geometrical band next to the rim. The largest plate with a collector's label on the base: 'P55'.
UV- and daylight pictures included.
Dimensions: diameter - 35,6 / 31,7 / 22.6 cm; height - 4,6 / 3,5 / 2,4 cm. Weight - 1070 / 903 / 331 g.
Reference: same pattern dishes (set of 5 pcs) sold in auction house in Benelux in 2023. It's possible 5 dishes came from the same collection, the smallest plate would perfectly fit making set of six.
Provenance: all plates from the same private collection in Benekux.
Conditions report: the largest platter excellent condition with two small chips to the underside of the rim only, fortunatelly not visible from front. The smaller platter with a chip to the underside of the rim and two hairlines (4,4 and 2,6 mm. The smallest dish with a chip to the rim and fritting. All with minor wear to the painted decor and gilding, some firing faults, mostly to the back-side. UV- and strong white light tested. Check pictures for details.
