Krobo beads, which are powdered glass beads, handmade by the Krobo tribe in Ghana, West Africa. Famous for their vibrant colors and traditional meaning (a symbol of status, wealth, and success), they are eco-friendly, created by crushing recycled glass and, in this case, some of them, were further hand-painted and re-fired. Beads still play a very prevalent role in modern Krobo culture. For example, beads are used in ceremonies of birth, coming of age, marriage, or death and are generously displayed in festivals and parades.
