The damage must be reported to your local post office within 7 days of delivery, and promptly to us and Catawiki support. 【Product details】 A collection of three Japanese orin Buddhist bells from the Showa period, each producing a distinct clear and lingering tone. The set comprises a handheld orin, a brass Matsumushi orin and a black-finished orin, together with their accompanying strikers, cushions and stand. The handheld orin has a red lacquered yew-wood handle and a red-and-green gold brocade cushion. It is marked 鈴末 inside and is accompanied by a metal striking rod attached by a purple cord. The golden brass orin is marked 松虫, meaning “Matsumushi,” inside the bowl. It comes with a round red-and-gold brocade cushion and a wooden striker with a section covered in gold brocade fabric. The third bell has a black finish with a visible hammered surface. It comes with a flower-shaped brocade cushion, a brown plastic pedestal decorated with gold cloud motifs and a red lacquered wooden mallet with a head covered in genuine leather and gold brocade fabric. Orin bells are used in Japanese Buddhist prayer, ritual and meditation. Unlike Himalayan singing bowls, which are often played by rubbing around the rim, an orin is gently struck to produce a single resonant tone that gradually fades, helping to create a calm and contemplative atmosphere. Fair to good vintage condition with age-related scuffs, surface wear, discolouration and areas of oxidation, including spots of verdigris on the metal bells. The strikers have minor blemishes, fraying to the brocade covering, small lacquer chips and general handling wear. The genuine leather and gold brocade covering on the mallet head shows staining and wear. The fabric cushions have slight discolouration, and the plastic pedestal has light wear and minor blemishes.
