賣家描述
Silver Ducaton – Province of Overijssel – 1734
A scarce silver ducaton struck in 1734 for the Province of Overijssel, minted at Deventer during the final decades of the Dutch Republic. Ducatons were among the Republic’s principal large silver trade coins, renowned throughout Europe and overseas for their reliable weight and high silver fineness. The obverse features the iconic armoured horseman raising a sword, symbolizing the military strength and independence of the United Provinces, with the crowned provincial coat of arms below. The reverse displays the crowned arms of the Province of Overijssel, flanked by two heraldic lions and surrounded by the traditional Latin legend. This example is particularly desirable as it is preserved in UNC (Uncirculated) condition with exceptional original detail and attractive natural cabinet toning. Unlike the majority of surviving eighteenth-century Overijssel ducatons, which originate from the famous De Liefde shipwreck, this specimen does not come from that wreck, making it a considerably scarcer and more desirable representative of the issue for collectors seeking non-shipwreck examples.
Material: Silver (.940)
Weight: 32.60 g
Date: 1734
Mint: Deventer Mint, Province of Overijssel
