Founded in 1790 in Pößneck, Thuringia, Conta & Boehme became one of Germany’s leading porcelain manufacturers during the 19th century. The factory was renowned for its finely modelled decorative porcelain, including figural pieces, biscuit and parian ware, and elegant table accessories. Their production was widely exported across Europe and the United States.
The present piece dates to the late Victorian / Belle Époque period (circa 1893–1910), identifiable by the factory’s registered shield mark with an arm holding a sword, introduced in 1893.
