An early and excellent example of the Stanley # 92 butt and rabbet gauge. These were made from 1892 to 1939 and the clearly readable mark of STANLEY, Metric suggest this is of the earlier type.The head of the gauge is rosewood with brass a wing nut and brass trim/wear plates to both sides. The inner and outer body/rod are both brass affixed to its steel face plate. The double cutter at the end is in great shape. It is rare to find such a gauge with its steel scribe on the side of the gauge - pictures.Everything works as it should with all parts present and correct.
In its day, these gauges were considered one of Stanley's top of the line. This example is fully functional, showy and an excellent example of this early type gauge.The gauge has been completely disassembled, lightly cleaned, oiled and waxed before listing.From my own collection the gauge is confidently offered at the lowest allowable starting bid and absolutely no hidden reserve whatever. Please do,however, check the pictures carefully and ask any additional questions to further verify condition and type.
