Natsume - 白漆,木材 - Gold Net Makie-Japan

Item Description A beautifully crafted Japanese lacquer tea caddy (natsume) of medium size (chu-natsume), finished in luminous white lacquer (shiro-urushi) and adorned with an elegant chigai-ami (crossed fishing net lattice) motif in delicate gold hiramaki-e. The refined diagonal grid pattern — rendered in fine gold lines against the warm ivory ground — flows seamlessly across the body and lid, creating a continuous and hypnotic visual rhythm characteristic of refined Japanese lacquerwork. The form is a classic gently rounded cylinder with a softly fitted lid, perfectly proportioned for formal usucha (thin tea) service in the Japanese tea ceremony (chado). The deep, glassy lacquer surface reflects the meticulous craftsmanship of a skilled Japanese lacquer artisan. The net (ami) motif is a traditional Japanese design symbolising abundance and good fortune, and has long been favoured as a decorative theme for tea ceremony utensils. The interior is finished in smooth lacquer, and the fit between lid and body is precise and elegant — hallmarks of quality Japanese lacquerware production. A refined and versatile piece suitable for use throughout the year. Size Height: 6.5 cm Width: 6.5 cm (diameter) Weight 45.3 g Condition In near-mint condition with no visible scratches, chips, or lacquer damage; the surface retains its original deep gloss throughout.
