西亞 青銅色 碗 (沒有保留價)
A fine Western Asiatic bronze bowl. It features an hemispherical body with curving walls and wide, circular mouth with a flattened rim. A thin incised line decorates the interior under the rim, and a thin circles is incised at the bottom of the bowl. The vessel sits upon a slightly rounded base. The bowl is slightly misshapen due to age, now featuring a more ovoid shape. Small, stable crack to one of the walls. Extensive earthly encrustations, a green patina, and signs of wear to the surface as consistent with age.
In ancient times a number of nomadic populations, such as the Medes and the Kassites, settled in the Western Asiatic area. Due to the nomadic nature of the tribes, none of the bronzes were of great size, since it was required for them to be light and portable. Excavated items often included weapons, tools, and finials, as well as small amulets and fittings. Everyday objects are also found including pins and bracelets. Their artwork mainly comprises ornaments, vessels and weapons. Archaeological evidence suggests that the bronze objects often serve ceremonial functions given their funerary contexts.
Measurements: (circa) L 14.5cm x W 13cm x H 4.5cm
