An Edwardian teaspoon and sugar tongs set manufactured by the prestigious silversmith John Henry Potter of Sheffield, England.This elegant set features six teaspoons adorned with highly detailed, ornate figural handles—evocative of classic English Apostle spoons—accompanied by a matching pair of sugar tongs. The back of 4 spoons features the crisp stamped maker's mark "J.H. Potter" alongside the coveted "A1" stamp, which designates the highest and most durable grade of British silver-plating (Superior/Triple Plate Quality). Two spoons in the set were replaced during its service life with visually matching, high-quality period equivalents. These two spoons are stamped with traditional gothic-style "EPNS" (Electroplated Nickel Silver) cartouche marks. The entire collection is beautifully preserved in its original, vibrant royal blue satin and velvet-lined hard presentation case, complete with the clean, gilded manufacturer’s mark stamped on the inner lid.
