Such works combine musical, ritual and emblematic functions, and their surfaces often became privileged fields for social and cosmological imagery. The drum form transforms cast metal into an object of resonance, prestige and ceremonial authority. Even when iconographic details are not fully preserved or described, the typology itself evokes a world in which sound, display and communal identity were closely connected. In a museum catalogue, the piece helps explain the importance of bronze technology in Southeast Asia and the role of drums as markers of status, exchange and ritual power.
