Subject and Symbolism:
The painting depicts a vibrant naturalistic scene with five horses in various dynamic poses (running, drinking, and resting) within a mountainous and wooded landscape classic of Chinese pictorial tradition. In Asian culture, the horse is a powerful symbol of strength, vitality, success, and speed in achieving one's goals. The lower section features craggy rocks and stylized pine trees, elements that evoke longevity and resilience.
Frame and Details:
