Item Description
This striking baluster-form vase draws its design language from archaic Chinese ritual bronzes of the Zhou and Han dynasty tradition. The body is entirely covered in dense, hand-incised relief decoration: interlocking spiral "cloud and thunder" (leiwen) motifs, stylized taotie-inspired scrollwork, and repeating diamond lattice bands around the foot. Twin handles in the form of stylized dragon (kui-long) heads rise from the shoulder to the flared neck, a hallmark feature of archaic bronze vessel design. The entire surface is finished in a rich malachite-green verdigris patina with darker recessed detailing, giving the impression of genuine aged bronze while remaining a decorative reproduction piece. With its bold silhouette and archaeological character, this vase makes a strong sculptural statement as a freestanding decorative object or flower vessel, and would suit collectors of Chinoiserie, archaistic bronzes, or eclectic interior styling.
Size
Height: 18.5 cm
Width: 10 cm
Depth: 9 cm
Weight
621 g / 0.621 kg
Condition
The vase shows light overall wear consistent with age, including minor surface scuffing and a small chip/void to the underside rim of the foot; the green patina finish is intact and displays its full decorative pattern clearly throughout.
