"Java Sparrow on Fuki Leaves"(富貴に文鳥) - 雕刻 - 冷漆青銅(Cold painted bronze) - 日本 (沒有保留價)
This elegant Japanese decorative sculpture depicts a Java sparrow resting among broad green leaves of Japanese butterbur, known in Japan as “fuki”.
The work is made of cast bronze and is displayed on a finely shaped wooden base. Although the artist and exact workshop are unknown, the piece has the character of a Japanese decorative metalwork object, created not only as an ornament but also as a small scene from nature.
Japanese butterbur is a familiar plant in Japan, often seen in gardens, countryside paths, and shaded natural areas. Its large rounded leaves are strongly associated with the quiet beauty of the Japanese seasons. In this work, the small bird placed among the leaves creates a peaceful and charming scene, as if a moment from a Japanese garden has been captured in bronze.
The Java sparrow is a beloved bird in Japan, admired for its gentle appearance and familiar presence. Combined with the fresh green leaves of fuki, the sculpture gives an impression of calmness, natural harmony, and modest elegance.
The wooden base measures approximately 33 cm in width and 19 cm in depth. With the bird and leaves displayed, the total height is approximately 15 cm. The object weighs approximately 1,200g, giving it a solid and substantial feel despite its graceful appearance.
The contrast between the dark bronze bird, the vivid green leaves, and the polished wooden base creates a distinctive and visually appealing composition. It is suitable for display in a living room, study, entrance hall, or collection cabinet.
A charming example of Japanese decorative metalwork, combining cast bronze craftsmanship with a poetic natural motif.
