SASANIAN KINGS. Peroz I, 457/9-484. Drachm (Silver, 29 mm, 4.00 g, 3 h), AW (Ohrmazd-Ardaxšēr), 2nd crown (circa AD 458-474). Within a dotted circle, draped bust of Peroz to right, wearing a mural crown with a frontal crescent and a korymbos set on a crescent on top; to right, ‘kdy pylw[cy]’ = ‘kay Pērōz’ (‘King Peroz’ in Pahlavi); in the margin, countermark: the symbol of ‘frawahr’, the guardian spirit of kingship and the emblem of the royal treasury. Rev. Fire altar, flanked by two attendants; above altar, star and crescent; to left, ‘p’ (abbreviation for ‘Peroz’ in Pahlavi); to right, AW (abbreviation for the name of the mint in Pahlavi)
