Mount Gay Eclipse Black 100 Proof was introduced [in 2012 - ES]. It was released as limited edition with a higher abv of 50% and a huge intensity of aromas. That bottling was received very well and sold out. So Mount Gay decided to release the younger and lighter Black Barrel with less abv - which is still produced today. Back the day the Eclipse Black was bottled with a rich dark intense profile with a lot of complexity. We can only assume (because of colour and rich taste) that the blend was much older than the young blends today. The bottle is sold out since 10 years and rare to find nowadays.
