Domaine Prieure Roch Domaine Prieure Roch was founded in 1988 by Henry-Frédéric Roch. He was one of the very first winemakers in Burgundy to work organically. At the time, this was very special. In 2010, Henry found his partner, Yannick Champ. Now they run the winery together. The logo consists of Egyptian hieroglyphs. The eyes on the label refer to the supernatural forces of the earth. The red dots reflect the grapes, and the green leaf represents the cycle of the vine. The plots have a total surface area of ​​fourteen hectares and are spread across various appellations in Burgundy. Most of the vines are planted in Nuits-Saint-Georges in the Premier Cru vineyards Clos des Argillières and Clos des Corvées. The vineyards are cultivated naturally to extend the lifespan of each plot and to find a balance between the vine and its natural environment. The yield per hectare is quite low, averaging around 25 hl/ha. This low yield results in high-quality wines with well-concentrated aromas. The grape bunches are fermented whole, including the stems. Due to strict selection in the vineyard, only bunches with fully ripe stems are used. Fermentation is initiated by indigenous yeasts, which are naturally found on the grape skin. After fermentation, the wines mature in French oak barrels. The Village wines mature in barrels for an average of 18 months, and the Grand Cru wines for an average of 24 months. The wines are layered and complex, with abundant fruit aromas and concentrated use of oak. The best vintages of Domaine Prieure Roch are: 1990, 1991, 1993, 1995, 1996, 1999, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018.
